Org Chart Map: How About Trying a Different StyleNancy
Org Chart Map: What Is It?
An org chart map is something like the combination of org chart and mind map diagrams. If you have created org charts before, you may have already seen lots of hierarchical organizational framework. Usually, the CEO or department director is put in the top position of an org chart. Such cases may also occur in mind mapping diagrams if you consider the main topic in your mind map as the leading position. You may generate such an org chart based on an online mind map software, but today we gonna create a hierarchical type org chart map by using the easy mind mapping software for Windows.
Build the Overall Structure of Your Org Chart Map
Here comes the first step: establishing your structure outline. It is kind of constructing buildings from the very beginning. The process is no easier than just a few clicks: first, choose the Org-Chart Map from the Available Templates, then hit the tiny Plus button to automatically form your downward sub-divisions.
Edit Your Texts
As we known, each of the positions in a business department has its title, employee name and contact details etc. This should be the same in an org chart map. You can simply edit corresponding info for individual staff in the map.
Put in Your Manager!
This is one of my favorite parts! I can drag and drop any preset clipart to my org chart map to rich the content. It’s totally up to you to decide your team members. Besides putting people image, you can also insert some other elements like marketing documents, coupon discount labels etc.
Things are getting more interesting now: stylize your diagram in freestyle. If you feel the existing background is a bit dark, just go to the Page Style so you can see a list of options: changing Theme pattern and color; switching to Hand-drawn style or Rainbow style; or trying new background pattern etc. All changes in your org chart map will go automatically once you have moved the mouse to your preferred one.
Checking Again Your Work
Now we are approaching the final line of our org chart map creation. Quickly go through the details of your diagram to find possible improvements. For example, for the diagram we just created below, some texts are not so clear to identify. Therefore, we need to adjust the text font type, size, or choose the Bold option. Furthermore, we can select different shapes and colors for branches boxes or connectors. Done!
What Else Could We Do: Alternative Steps
- Insert necessary elements according to your org chart map types: such as notes, comments, external links, attachments, local photos, boundary or numbering options. A boundary is for very large org structure with many sub-divisions.
- View your org chart map in different sizes, such as in full screen, or you can zoom in or out the diagram to ensure that no parts are out of your drawing canvas.
- Share your work to SNS platforms for feedback; print or export your work in different formats, like PDF, MS Office, Graphics etc.
